Once in a lifetime you come across an obscure artist that takes you by
storm and astounds you with a musical style not quite like anything
you've ever heard. That's what happened in 1998 when I discovered
the music composed by
Michael Rapp.
With a unique gift for telling a story set to music, he bases his albums
on a character either real or fictional. The overtures, interludes
and finales takes you on an adventure that delights your ears and
enlightens your senses. Michael Rapp's stylish musical flair is in
a class all his own and relishes in complex mixtures of orchestration
that simply makes your spirits soar. Michael fills his music to
include talented artists who portray his characters, and in turn these
artists bring them to life to tell a story.
The best way to describe Michael's music is something he noted recently
as being, "less about what one sees, and more about what one hears
-- and less about what one hears than how one listens."
Outstanding masterpieces, Michael
Rapp
does not receive the praise he deserves
for his excellence and hallmark presentation of his concept music.
As an avid fan, I hereby dedicate this website to
Michael Rapp
and look forward to all his endeavors now and in the future! |

ULYSSES, The
Greek Suite
Whisk away with Michael as he sets sail with
Ulysses, The Greek Suite
starring
Ted Neeley
of the movie
Jesus Christ Superstar. As Ulysses sets off for yonder island, just don't forget
Greeks love their cheese. Better take olives too! Land ho,
dead ahead Ulysses shouts, just beware of the mean old s.o.b.
Polyphemus
and take head of that warning
about Hades', for it is much stronger. But Ulysses doesn't fret
about those battles because he, Never
Had A Woman On His Mind for more than a day. And maybe
it was time for Ulysses to fall in love again. After all, he had
been stuck on that island for so long.
Your Mind Is A Door and you must
Find Yourself. If you
Take It From One Who Knows, those
Promises I Made To Me would that give Ulysses incentive to navigate his
way home again? Was there any hope at all?
One Sure Thing To Get You There is to give Michael a chance to take you on an adventure you'll
enjoy over and over again!
Ulysses, The Greek Suite

RappCity On Blue
Also in Michael Rapp's repertoire, is a
fine collection of instrumental music called
RappCity On Blue. Although more
difficult to obtain, it is an earlier album that is soothing to the
senses in every aspect. This collection is enlightening as there
are no words to cloud your thoughts. When tense and need to relax,
this is my first choice for those melodies and interludes to soothe
those frazzled nerves. Or, if I'm in the art room Michael's music
on this album inspires me on those art projects I'm always working on.
My favorite selections are:
Waves, Where Do We Go
From Here and
Serenade. But,
the two songs that bring me the most delight is
Ba-Roke Again
and
So Sue Me
if I want my pay
check on time. Very nice collection most definitely worth picking
up if you can get your hands on this rare gem. |
